Mason Lake - The Perfect Recovery Activity After A Half Marathon

With Joanna and Phyllis heading off for a while, we got in a rare Monday evening hike. Sherrie is recovering from her ACL surgery and Pam, Sue, Phyllis and I were just off of our 1/2 Marathon at the Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon Saturday. I'm fairly sure that a steep little hike wasn't actually on any of our recovery plans, but we all did very well.

Mason Lake is reached by the Ira Spring trail and climbs almost 2400 feet in the 7.3 mile roundtrip. That qualifies it as a persistent grade and a worthy shorter hike. Often, we would continue to a junction to the Mount Defiance trail, but it wasn't in the cards for a lake evening hike.

We hit the trail at 6:13 and quickly made our way up to the lake in roughly 1:30. We had celebratory beverages and some food and headed back down. Luckily, it was the longest Monday of the year as we all made it down just before needing headlamps.

Phyllis - Safe travels to you and enjoy your well deserved family time.

Joanna - Safe travels to you and we know you will find the perfect spot to land where you can be the best you.

The rest of you - let's do one of these weeknight hikes at least monthly. What do you say?

Be very well and more soon.....
